When your mouse passes Clicking on a selected
a malt region, the name
of that region and a list
of the active distilleries
in the region appears
inside this 'screen'.
If you want to know
more about one of
the regions all you
have to do is CLICK!
area of the map will
take you to a seperate
page with details about
that particular region.
If the malt you're looking for doesn't pop up, you can be pretty sure it's a Speyside malt.
The region is home to more than 50 distilleries - far too many to fit in the small screen above.
Just click your way to the Speyside page or the Distillery Data Overview
for a full listing of all Speyside malts.
When the name of the single malt you're looking for doesn't appear on these pages chances are the distillery doesn't operate anymore. During the economic crisis of the early 1980's many
distilleries were forced to close down - temporarily or permanently. Because some casks of whisky are left alone to mature for many years new bottlings from 'silent stills' like Brora, Port Ellen or Saint Magdalene are still being released. That's why I've included some of these silent stills on the list in light brown.
