Here's the complete alphabetical list off all the malts I've 'seriously' tasted and rated since the spring of 1996. Seriously means that I've nosed
and tasted the malt thoroughly on at least five different occasions. The ratings in this list are on a 1 - 100 scale; click here for the same list, rated from best to worst or click here for a brief explanation of my personal rating system.
(Well... at least an attempt to rationalize it.)

If you want to know more about the experiences behind the cold, hard numbers, check out my Little Black Book.
Every malt that scores 80 or more is O.K. in my book. Most of them are part of my "steady stock" of bottles that get replaced as soon as they're empty. Perhaps you have tasted the same malts and think I'm INSANE! If you feel my favorites are only fit to clean toilets, please don't hesitate to let me know my judgment stinks.

You may wonder why there are so few really old malts in the list.
Well, stop wondering.
Older malts are usually rather pricy, and although some
of them are very good, I still haven't found one to top the Lagavulin 16. A Macallan or Glenmorangie 25 cost about Euro 200,- here in Holland; a liter of Lagavulin or Talisker only a little under Euro 40,-.
Now you do the math...
On the
'Value' page you'll find a list of most whiskies I've tasted so far, sorted by value for money.
A
s I've stressed before, these ratings are just my own personal ratings.
In the E-Reports section
you will find the opinions of a few others malt madmen.
That's it for now ..... Click
On the "Collection" page you'll find more info on the malts that are awaiting my judgement.

I can't emphasize enough that these ratings just reflect my personal opinions and feelings. After all, taste and smell are our most 'emotional' senses. Check out 'The Matrix' for other people's ratings.
You may have noticed that most single malt whiskies rate somewhere between 60 and 90 points. Sometimes people ask me why I don't use the 'entire scale' when I'm rating single malts. The answer is that my 1-100 rating scale encompasses all alcoholic drinks; blended whiskies and vatted malts but cognac, wine and port as well. See my 'other whiskies' page for details.
