Just like my Liquid Log this 'Blog' contains mostly tasting
reports. However, once in a while I like to publish reports
about special events
as well. Events like the Italian trip
in 2002, my first visit to Scotland in 2003, the maniacal
gathering and adventures at Whisky Live London 2004
or the big eurotrip in november 2004. One of the biggest
malt
whisky events so far was my visit to Feis Ile 2005.

290 - 01/03/2006 - Keeping Stock; time to have a look at my recent progress w.r.t. the 'to do list'. Finally, in the beginning of 2010 I switched to an 'external' BlogSpot blog (powered by Google these days). |
Before I continue, I'd like to point out that I started this 'liquid blog' long before I launched my Google Blog on the Blogspot platform in January 2010. So, it may look like there are two or three different (b)logs on this site, but that's just an
optical illusion - it's actually just one. The differences in form don't signify any fundamental changes, just an evolution in appearance.
I started the log in 1997 and wrapped up entry #200 at the end of 2004. That means that I wrote an average of
25 entries per year during the first eight years. The format of my reports changed a little in January 2005 and when the Spring of 2006 arrived I had written 100 more entries. All appeared to go smoothly, but then the site suffered from 'The Big Crunch'
during the summer of 2006. So, I wrote Blog Entry #300 and rebuilt MM from scratch. But I'm getting ahead of myself; scroll down for the 100 entries
I've written in 2005 and '06.
So, what is this 'Liquid Blog' exactly?
Well, it's basically the same as my Liquid Log that I've kept
between 1997 and 2004, but my blog
is intended to cover
a wider range of topics and has pictures to keep those
with shorter attention spans awake. Of course, a simpler
solution to the visitors of MM falling asleep on top of their keyboards would be for me to write shorter reports on
my Scotch tastings, but once I get started about single
malts I usually tend to go
on and on and on...
Phew.... That's quite enough talk about this website, don't you agree? Scroll down for a hundred log entries about the many aspects of single malt whisky - or surf along to my new Google Blog to read about recent tastings & events.
Some entries in my blog are devoted to specific topics like the 1-100 rating system that I
use, malts & meals, malts & movies or the four whisky seasons of the year. These special
reports were published in my Liquid Log, but you can find similar reports about events in
2005 and 2006 in this Blog. Obviously, one of the most exciting events so far was my trip
to
Feis Ile 2005. It was my very first visit to Islay and I met eight other maniacs there.
The people and the atmosphere on the island were wonderful - and they had whisky too!
After the festival that lasted a week we
could add 150 new whiskies to the MMMatrix.
